------------------------------------------
The legend of the wine
Z' Johanneli is said to have been the first innkeeper on the Brigerberg in the 17th century. After closing time, she always secretly poured water into the wine barrel. When one evening a guest caught Johanneli in the act, she was driven out of the village. After that she was never seen again by anyone. At that time it was said that she had to remain forever as a lost soul in the glacier waters to atone for her grave sin. But since the Aletsch Glacier has begun to melt, it is said that z'Johanneli has been set free again. This is probably why there is wine again, only this time it is said to have been washed clean of her guilt.
