The Legend of Wine ( listen )
Z' Johanneli is said to have been the first landlady on the Brigerberg in the 17th century. After the shop closed, she would secretly fill the wine barrel with water. When a guest caught Johanneli red-handed one evening, she was chased out of the village.
After that, no one ever saw her again. At the time, it was said that she would have to remain forever as a lost soul in the glacier waters to atone for her grave sin. But since the Aletsch glacier began to melt, it is said that z'Johanneli has been released again. This is probably why the wine is available again, only this time it is supposed to have been washed clean of her guilt.
Johanneli Fi, Heida Excellence AOC VS
tasting report
Rich straw yellow with golden yellow reflections in the glass. Fresh on the nose with a promising potpourri of citrus fruits, floral notes and initially subtle nuances of peach and melon.
On the palate, the wine is pleasantly balanced and full-bodied at the start, with notes of peach and melon coming through even more strongly and complementing the beautifully present acidity. Overall, a very finely balanced play of sweetness and acidity that is simply enjoyable even on the long finish.

Best vineyards near Raron with sandy, medium-heavy loamy soils facing south
